humans of new york is the photo-blog project of brandon stanton, active since 2010. the approach of hony gained huge popularity on social media for its simplicity and purity. stanton takes portraits of people on the streets and includes some pertinent segment of the conversation he has with them. this marriage of image and idea won the hearts of millions and has seen the style mimicked from la to istanbul.

before i die... a community art project started by artist candy chang. she painted a wall in her neighbourhood with blackboard paint and left the stenciled message 'before i die' as a jumping off point for people to write their own motivations in life. this project has served as an interesting and inspiring focal point for communities to consider their purpose.
