(bkz: war resistant)

a term meaning that does not move in a certain order, contains an element of uncertainty.

the fearful dream of statistics and industrial engineering students, a really important but equally difficult lesson. it is possible to pass this distinguished lesson, which i am on the verge of failing, without understanding its logic, by memorizing a few questions, but only to pass. however, people like me who do not understand and even use memorization will fail this course forever. synonymously (see random)

(bkz: stochastic music) (see iannis xenakis)

for the opposite (see: deterministic)

concept that i think is misunderstood. this concept is not ambiguous, on the contrary, it contains certainty because it is based on the premise that "unknown elements will behave in accordance with a known frequency distribution". so again, we are faced with a keynesian and knightgil definition of uncertainty. therefore, any system with stochastic quality is deterministic. is one of the problems of neoclassical economics, and at the other extreme is the "methodological individualism" of the austrian school.

for its opposite, you need to look at "voluntaristic", not "deterministic". for the philosophical source from which it is fed (see: certainty of certainty).
