Imece is a traditional event in Thrace where neighbors and friends come together to help each other out, like when making couscous and tarhana. It's a fun and loving event that lasts until the morning. Usually, the young daughters of the neighbors come to help, which adds beauty to the event.
I just got invited to go pick hazelnuts in the beginning of August. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go, but it sounds like a fun time. If you have the chance, you should go with a group of people and help out the local villagers. It will be a refreshing experience.
