On May 26, 1914, Atatürk wrote a letter to Madame Corinne in French. At the end of the letter, he included a paragraph written in his own language using Latin letters. The paragraph said that life is a test for people and they must be sure of their answers, even if they can't give the right ones. He also said that the outcome of the test will depend on the overall result.
A lady from Italy who was friends with Mustafa Kemal's family exchanged letters with him between 1913 and 1917. During the armistice years, when the British invaded Madame Corinne's house in Istanbul, they found paintings of Mustafa Kemal, which made Corinne scared and she had to flee to Italy.
Atatürk and Corinne exchanged letters in French. Peyami Safa translated the public letters into Turkish and published them in a newspaper. Corinne was good at playing the piano, which was something that Atatürk and other women he was interested in had in common.
