I inserted a flash drive from the store into my computer and a virus was on it that Panda Antivirus couldn't catch. When I removed Panda Antivirus, Windows Defender activated itself and was able to catch and clean the virus.
Do not plug in a USB drive from someone who is not familiar with computers into your computer without scanning it first. If you do, make sure to run a scan to clean it and make sure it is safe.
