A docile, colorful but extremely unappetizing and slow-growing tarantula species whose sling I have received today. Advice for those starting the hobby: definitely don't start with this one. Have it in your hand to say "hah, there's more to this than meets the eye!"

brachypelma smithi

It is one of the most stunning tarantula species. Despite its generally placid nature, it is not recommended for beginners due to its slow growth and picky appetite. As it is a desert dweller, it does not require high humidity, and is fairly tolerant of temperature fluctuations.
